The Mimaki TS330-1600 high-speed sublimation printer delivers exceptional print speeds and consistent quality for textile applications such as sportswear, fashion, flags and interior decoration. This printer combines efficiency, accuracy and vibrant colors for professional sublimation production at every level.
The Mimaki TS330-1600 is a high-performance, industrial dye-sublimation transfer printer (1.6 m / 63.4″ wide) designed for textile, apparel, soft signage and décor applications. The printer combines speed, high image quality (even in low-pass modes) and features that reduce downtime and operating costs.
The TS330-1600 supports a maximum media thickness of up to 1 mm and roll weights of up to ~45 kg, making it suitable for heavy transfer paper and many types of transfer film. The wide format (1,610 mm printable width) is suitable for large continuous rolls. However, it is a sublimation transfer printer, which means it first prints on transfer paper (or sublimation paper), which is then heat pressed onto polyester or other compatible fabrics. The properties of the fabric (polyester content, stretch, surface finish) affect the final output quality and durability. It is less suitable for direct printing on non-textile or much thicker rigid substrates (unless accompanying transfer/press processes are used).
The TS330-1600 supports fluorescent yellow and fluorescent pink (via Sb410) in addition to standard and light colors. These fluorescent inks make designs "pop" under visible light and are especially useful for fashion, performance apparel or signage requiring eye-catching images. In terms of trade-offs: fluorescent inks usually cost more per liter, careful color profiling may be required to meet expectations, and they may behave differently in terms of fading (especially with strong UV exposure or washing) compared to standard colors. When using fluorescent inks, print speed may be slightly affected depending on the number of print runs or resolution required. Proper curing, transfer/finishing and fabric selection are essential to maximize durability.
Operating costs depend heavily on print mode (high quality vs. draft), ink coverage, media costs, electricity rates and labor. Some features of the TS330-1600 help lower costs: the 10 kg bulk ink tanks reduce the cost per liter compared to smaller packages; the mini jumbo roll option reduces media waste and downtime; features such as dual take-up motors and media edge guides prevent media misalignment and waste. In addition, the use of Mimaki's proprietary ink (Sb411 / Sb410) ensures optimal performance and minimal waste due to incompatible fluids. Power consumption in standard operation is about 800 W, with peaks up to ~1,440 W, which should be taken into account in power planning. Regular maintenance (cleaning, proper environmental conditions) helps prevent printhead problems that can be costly.
Mimaki has added enhanced maintenance features: cloth wiper (to reduce ink splashes at the head station), improved cleaning mechanisms, larger maintenance areas, LED lighting, remote access to check machine status (Mimaki Remote Access). The printer also includes nozzle monitoring units and nozzle repair systems to detect and correct nozzle problems. For support, Mimaki has service networks and usually provides documentation, parts and consumables. For the user, proper operator training, regular cleaning schedules and compliance with environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) ensure smoother operation and less downtime.
The printer supports multiple resolutions (300, 600, 900, 1,200 dpi) and multiple throughput modes. Faster modes (e.g., two-pass or even single-pass in some configurations) deliver high throughput (up to ~135 sq m/h), but quality in terms of sharpness, gradation and density may be lower. High-quality modes (more passes, higher dpi) give better detail, smoother blends, richer solids, but at lower speeds. Users often make tradeoffs: use high-speed modes for proofs or less overtly quality-sensitive tasks (such as banners) and high-quality modes for apparel, interior products or where details are important.

The TS330-1600 requires a single-phase AC power supply (100-120 V or 200-240 V, depending on region) capable of handling peaks up to ~1,440 W. Ambient temperature should be between 20-30 °C, humidity between 35-65% RH (non-condensing). The footprint of the machine is about 3,170 × 820 × 1,305 mm, the weight about 240 kg, so adequate floor strength, space for rolling or unloading, and ventilation are needed. Provisions must also be made for media roll storage and handling large transfer paper rolls (mini jumbo rolls, etc.).
The TS330-1600 improves on previous models in several ways: increase in maximum speed (especially in draft mode), improvements in media handling (dual take-up motors, better transport), improved image quality via MWDT and expanded color options (fluorescent). The draft speed alone is ~38% faster than Mimaki's previous comparable models in certain modes. These improvements lead to higher throughput and lower total cost of ownership for high-volume businesses.
The printer comes with RasterLink7 RIP software, which can handle many standard needs. For more advanced textile workflows, TxLink4 is available, especially needed when using fluorescent colors, complex color management or working with variable data. For accurate color reproduction, use calibrated transfer paper, ensure consistent environmental conditions, calibrate regularly when inks or media change, and possibly create your own ICC profiles (or use manufacturer-supplied profiles as a starting point). Sample tests and proofs are highly recommended for large runs.
The inks used (Sb411 / Sb410) are water-based dye sublimation, and Mimaki has certifications (e.g., OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT) for these inks, indicating safety regarding chemicals for textiles intended for skin contact. That said, sublimation printing is best suited for polyester or polyester-blended fabrics (or treated surfaces for rigid substrates), so the selection of compatible material, proper curing/transfer process and environmental controls (ventilation, ink waste handling) are important for overall durability.
