What started in 2005 with a personalized surprise song in a20m2attic room, Yoursurprise has now grown into a company with a7000m2 campus and 2 million gifts in 2020, spread over 22 countries worldwide.
Arno Schipper, part of production team innovation, leads us around the brand new campus in Zierikzee and tells us more about this growing company.
"Gerbrand Verton & Wouter de Vries started in 2005 in a small attic room with a small idea; a personalized song: the surprise song. Since then the gentlemen have been hard at work conquering the world with personalized gifts. It started with 1,000 gifts a year, 14 years later 26,000 orders a day go out the door at peak times during Christmas. All these orders are processed in 12 production lines, each with its own processing method. From textile printing to sublimation, from laser engraving to direct printing. Everything comes together - after personalization - for shipment via the central parcel conveyor and goes out into the world with various postal companies."
Loyal staff and a great fun factor is key. You not only see this in the new premises, but also notice it when you visit the website or have customer service on the phone. "Happy employees make happy customers."
The large slide in the reception hall stands out: "This gets you downstairs nice and fast and you don't have to go down all the stairs." Gerbrand's pet dog also welcomes you as you enter. And do you need a moment to recharge during your workday? Then take a break in one of the quiet rooms or work out in the gym. Everything at Yoursurprise is aimed at making work as pleasant as possible for their staff. This fun factor and drive for innovation is also reflected in coming up with new, personalized products.
Yoursurprise has been doing business with Dimix since 2016. "Right now there are 3 Mimaki UJF-3042 running. Among other things, wooden greeting cards are printed with them. The D-Line Print & Walk stickers can be seen on the floors in the mail handling area. This makes it clear which packages go with which service. For 2020, business is going to expand with larger Mimaki machines."
Patrick van Doorn, product manager hardware & inks at Dimix, explains, "Yoursurprise suits us very well. The fun factor, personal connection with customers and innovative mindset is exactly what we also find important."
