Our tips
We all want consistent print quality, but how do you ensure that during these hot summer days? Dimix has the best tips for you to get the most out of your printer, even as the mercury rises!
Keep it cool in your print room
A stable temperature is the key to great prints. Do you have air conditioning? Great! If not, try to keep the temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. This will keep your ink at a perfect temperature.
Why is temperature so important?
In hot weather, ink becomes thinner and more fluid, which can lead to smudges on your prints. At temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, your printer may even stop with a message like "Machine temperature high. Not handy!
Here's how to keep your head (and your prints) cool
- Best temperature: Make sure your print room stays between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius. Ideal is 21 degrees.
- Humidity: Keep humidity between 40 and 60%, with a preference for 50%.
- Avoid drafts and direct sunlight: Do not print next to open windows, doors, air conditioners or heaters.
- Ink storage: Store your ink in a cool place. Ink that is too warm can cause problems.
- Acclimate new ink: Allow new ink to reach room temperature before using it. After a hot trip in a truck, this is really necessary!
- Acclimate media: Keep rolls of print media in the print room for 24 to 48 hours to allow them to acclimate to the temperature before you start printing.
With these summer tips from Dimix, you can be assured of top-quality prints no matter how hot it is outside. Enjoy the sun, but keep your print environment cool for the best results!
