If you use a flatbed UV printer, using a jig can be very useful for printing irregular shapes and products. A jig, also known as a jig, is a template to locate items on the bottom of your printer and help with repeated printing with great accuracy.

What should a good jig meet:

  • The jig must be MAT BLACK at all times.
  • The mold should never be WHITE, TRANSPARENT, BLANK METAL or any other color.
  • Objects being printed must always be flush with the mold. I.e. the highest point of the object, must also be the highest point of the mold.
  • The recommended head height of the material to be printed should be 1.5mm. Anything higher may result in ''fog ink''. I.e., the ink gets to places you don't want it.

Explained, it looks like this:

Explained, it looks like this:

With a head height of more than 2.0mm, you give the UV lamp a chance to curing flying ink droplets in places you don't want them. Droplets can then begin to clog the nozzle plate.

Objects to be printed that are transparent, glass, or reflective will cause long-term problems at all times. Again, the reflective surface reflects UV light which can lead to curing droplets where you don't want them.

Always consult with your account manager or our technical service how best to use a mold for the products/objects you want to print. We will be happy to advise you!
