Polymer PVC - White glossy - Permanent light-gray pressure-sensitive adhesive with X-Scape Technology® - Thickness approx. 70 µm - For medium outdoor applications on flat or slightly curved substrates such as vehicle and retail signage.
The Arlon DPF 4550 GTX is a high-performance 70 µm polymeric white PVC film specially developed for the sign and visual communication sector. The integrated X-Scape® air channel technology makes application easy, while the permanent light gray adhesive surface provides extra coverage for dark or already engraved substrates. Ideal for indoor and outdoor intermediate-term applications such as vehicle stickers, retail and POP signage.
Key features:
If you are a sign professional or visual communications specialist looking for a reliable, high-quality printing and application solution, the Arlon DPF 4550 GTX offers a strong combination of performance and ease of use. Thanks to its 70 µm polymeric facestock, the film ensures excellent printing results with sharp images and bright colors. At the same time, the integrated X-Scape® technology allows air to easily escape during application: resulting in fewer bubbles, faster processing and a predictable end result. For businesses like yours - where quality, speed and reliability go hand in hand - this means fewer mistakes, less waste and more satisfied end customers. The permanent light gray adhesive also makes it possible to work over existing graphics or dark substrates, further increasing flexibility and efficiency.
The Arlon DPF 4550 GTX is a calendered, polymeric white PVC film with a thick 70 µm layer. This thickness makes the film robust enough for use in both indoor and outdoor environments, while the glossy finish offers a professional appearance. The permanent solvent-based adhesive is light gray in color and contains Low Profile X-Scape® air channels, making the air release process faster during installation than with conventional media. This combination means you can work more smoothly, even on larger surfaces. Furthermore, the material is compatible with a wide range of printing systems - eco-solvent, solvent, latex as well as UV - making it easy to integrate into a variety of production environments. The product is available in roll widths of, for example, 1.07 m, 1.37 m, 1.52 m and 1.60 m, with standard roll lengths of 50 m, which is ideal for sign and fleet applications.
The versatility of the Arlon DPF 4550 GTX means it can be used in multiple segments:
At Dimix, we not only supply top-notch components, we support you through the entire process - from material selection to application advice. For the Arlon DPF 4550 GTX we offer:
Yes - this material is designed for flat and slightly curved surfaces including flat-sided vehicles. Thanks to its polymeric structure and permanent adhesive with air channel technology, the film stands up well to the installation challenges presented by vehicles. However, it is not a premium cast wrap for highly deforming surfaces; for very complex shapes, we recommend a premium cast film. Always ensure a properly cleaned and flat surface and follow Arlon's application guidelines.
The manufacturer gives an outdoor life of up to approximately 5 years for unprinted material under normal conditions. Actual life when printed depends on the ink system used, exposure to sunlight, climate and substrate. For optimal results, we also recommend applying an appropriate overlaminate coating.
The film is compatible with eco-solvent, solvent, latex as well as UV printing systems. This makes it very versatile with modern sign and print equipment. However, always check that your specific ink and print setting is recommended by the manufacturer for this type of media application.
X-Scape® technology means that the adhesive layer features microscopic channels that allow air to escape more quickly during application. This results in less air formation (bubbles) and faster application - a big advantage for large areas or less experienced applicators.
Yes, thanks to the light gray permanent adhesive, this product has extra coverage for existing graphics or dark substrates, reducing translucency or color intrusion. This makes it a practical choice for renovations or reuse.
Yes - Arlon recommends the use of certain overlaminates from their Series lines (e.g. Series 3450) to improve durability and protection, especially for outdoor use or heavy mechanical loading.
The film is available in several standard roll widths such as 1.07 m, 1.37 m, 1.52 m and 1.60 m. For your production, this means flexibility: smaller widths are ideal for signage, while larger widths bring efficiency for wide prints or vehicles.
According to the technical data, the recommended application temperature is in the range of 15 °C to 26 °C, on a clean and dry surface. For outdoor use, the film should also remain within the service temperature range, which varies from approximately -29 °C to 65 °C.
Arlon positions the DPF 4550 GTX as a "best value, multi-purpose film" - i.e., focusing on a good balance between quality, ease of installation and cost. For applications where the absolute best value cast film is required, a more expensive solution may be needed; but for many standard applications, this film is an excellent choice.
Yes - although the film is robust, some best practices apply: avoid direct washing with automatic high-pressure systems in the first 24-48 hours after application; clean with mild water and neutral soap; when used in outdoor environments, we recommend periodic visual inspection of seams or edges to detect early aeration or lifting. This care significantly increases service life and visual quality.
