ROWE cutting machines offer accurate and reliable cutting performance for large format prints, plans, posters and technical documents. Their rugged construction and ease of use make them the ideal choice for print companies, and repro departments looking to cut professionally on a daily basis.
Professional ROWE cutters deliver precision, durability and flexibility for large-format media up to 200 cm wide. Ideal for print shops, reprographics companies, sign makers and architects.
The main differences are in the working width and the type of operation. ROWE 59 is a manually operated tiller with a working width of 150 cm (59″). The ROWE 198 is electric, also 150 cm, and offers more convenience and speed, especially for higher use. The ROWE 198-2 increases the width to 200 cm (78.7″), making it ideal for large materials and workflows where trimming in multiple passes must be avoided. Each model shares many features (self-sharpening head, waste bag, floor stand), but the electric models add motorized parts, foot pedal or switch rod activation and power for continuous use.
ROWE cutting machines are designed to handle lighter media: paper of about 55-250 g/m², lightweight cardboard (cardstock), films and foils, laminates, tracing paper. The maximum thickness for cardboard, films or laminates is about 0.5 mm, depending on the specific material and its stiffness. Heavier or stiffer materials may require multiple layers or specialized equipment.
Accuracy is guaranteed by several design features: an antistatic aluminum feed table prevents material from slipping; DIN alignment marks and ruler guides or scale guides help positioning; automatic material fixation during cutting prevents shifting; lighting of the cutting edges improves visibility. Together, they ensure clean, straight edges and less waste from improper cutting.
The cutting head is designed to drive or bevel the blade during each cut such that the cutting edge remains sharp without frequent manual sharpening or replacement. This actively reduces downtime, lowers operating costs and ensures consistent cut quality over long periods of time. Although wear eventually occurs, the maintenance interval is significantly longer than with non-self-sharpening blades.
It depends on your use, volume, media type and working comfort. For smaller volumes, occasional cutting of lighter media or when access to electricity is limited, the manual ROWE 59 offers good value. If you handle large volumes or thicker material, or need faster throughput and ergonomic convenience (e.g., to have both hands free), the electric ROWE 198 or 198-2 is probably a better long-term investment. Also consider whether you often need wider cuts (200 cm), which only the 198-2 offers.
Accessories and optional upgrades include: advanced lighting for better visibility; guide with scale for accurate alignment; unwind mechanism to assist in feeding or removing large sheets; removable waste bag to maintain a clean work area; Plexiglas covers or transparent safety screens on electric models. This increases efficiency, safety and operator comfort.
Thanks to features such as the self-sharpening head and durable construction, operating and maintenance costs are relatively low compared to less sophisticated cutters. Costs include electricity (for electric models), occasional replacement or maintenance of lighting or guide parts, possible cleaning or lubrication of moving parts. Replacement or repair of the blade is rare with proper use. Over time, improved cutting consistency reduces waste, which also saves costs.
Warranty and service terms depend on your location, model and supplier. Typically, ROWE machines come with standard factory warranty; Dimix must provide support for installation, spare parts, maintenance and training. Delivery times vary by region and inventory. It is recommended that you contact Dimix directly for current shipping, pricing, warranty and service options in your region.
