Frequently Asked Questions

What is clear perforated window film?

Clear perforated window film is a transparent window film with microperforations. It allows light through and maintains visibility from inside to outside while being used along the outside for eye-catching window communication.

What is the recommended PCB assembly?

A common and reliable build consists of:

  1. CMYK layer (the design)
  2. White layer (for legibility and color support)
  3. Black layer (for better see-through effect).

These layers are printed in mirror image, given internal mounting.

Can I print clear perforated window film without white?

For high-quality, high-contrast results, a printer with white ink is highly recommended. Without white, the image quickly loses legibility, especially in daylight and bright backgrounds.

How important is ink limitation in this application?

Very important. Excessive ink use can:

  • partially block perforations,
  • reduce the see-through effect,
  • and adhesion to glass.

A balanced ink limit ensures better visual results as well as safer application.

Is the film easy to remove?

Yes, the film has a removable clear adhesive designed for clean removal up to 12 months after application, provided the film is applied at temperatures between 23°C and 25°C and a relative humidity of 50-60%. This allows easy updating of the window image without leaving adhesive residue.

What is the expected life of the film?

The unprinted film has an expected life of up to 2 years when applied to an inert, vertical substrate under Central European weather conditions. Factors such as printing inks, drying or curing processes, application methods and environmental conditions can affect the durability of the applied material.

Can this film be used on car windows?

Some countries have regulations requiring minimum light transmission on auto windows, which may limit or preclude the use of this product on vehicles. Users are responsible for determining and complying with all applicable standards before applying the product to vehicle windows.

How thick should the white ink layer be?

The white layer does not have to be completely opaque. It should support sufficiently, without oversaturation. In practice, optimal coverage is often below 100%. Test prints are essential to fine-tune this correctly.

Why is a black layer added?

The black layer absorbs light and improves the see-through effect from inside to outside. A light black "flood" (usually 100% black) is sufficient; additional ink does not add value and increases the risk of problems.

Are there any specific concerns with UV printing?

Yes. With UV inkjet printing, correct curing is crucial:

  • Too little curing can lead to ink accumulation in the perforations
  • Too much heat can cause edge curl or material stress

Proper balance prevents adhesion problems and visual defects.

Is clear perforated window film suitable for every type of glass?

Not always. Some glass constructions, such as Low-E coated or double glazing, require caution. Always consult application guidelines and conduct tests beforehand.
